WPL- Women's Premier League
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is India’s elite women’s franchise T20 cricket tournament, organised by the BCCI and launched in 2023 as a major step up from the earlier Women’s T20 Challenge. Featuring five city-based teams stacked with top Indian and overseas stars, the league follows an IPL-style format with a double round-robin stage and playoffs, delivering high-intensity, globally watched cricket each season. Played across major venues such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Lucknow, the WPL has quickly become one of the most influential competitions in women’s cricket, boosting player salaries, visibility, and competitive depth while attracting strong broadcast and sponsorship interest
